Brief assessment of the performance during last five years
In the last five years i.e., between 2003 to 2007, I have achieved tremendous progress in all walks of academic accomplishments. Apart from regular teaching at P.G. level, I have build excellent laboratory facilities for water resources evaluation, simulation and modeling by attracting an R & D fund of five million rupees through various National and International Organisations like AICTE, DST, IWMI and MoR for executing various research projects. Guided 12 M.Tech Theses and 3 Ph.D Theses apart from publishing 23 research papers. Attended half a dozen Internationals Conferences (including one at Italy, Sweden, Mexico and USA) apart from attending several Conferences and Workshops at National and State level. Every year several guest lectures were given at prestiges organizations of National and International importance including lectures at New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers University, Newark and Jackson State University of USA. Organized two National and two International Conferences apart from four Short term courses during last five years.
Several administrative responsibilities were taken up during last five years. Besides being Head of the department of Centre for Water Resources, my additional responsibilities include, Coordinator for Part-Time Post Graduate programmes at IST, JNTU, Officer In-Charge, Examinations for IST, JNTU and Coordinator for JNTU Forum for Science and Technology. I am also in charge for internet facilities at IST JNTU apart from being Asst. Public Information Officer for IST, JNTU. I have tried my best to improve the quality of the services rendered by JNTU at the above offices.
Professionally I have been recognized by becoming referee to the few National and International Journals and Member for several bodies of national importance including DST, CSIR, NGRI and NIH. I also became life member of Association of Geoscientists for International Development and also member of International Water Resources Association. Edited two volumes of proceedings of International Conference on Hydrology and Watershed Management and a popular science booklet titled “Neeru Pranaadharam – Vruda Cheyakandi” was written in Telugu for the benefit of farmers and general public. Recently I have been project coordinator for the partner country (India) for an International project involving International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and Melbourne University, Australia. Some of my research works of public importance was extensively reported by electronic and print media. Few honours include, conferring honorary research fellow by Birmingham University during 2005, chosen for distinguished standing by American Biographical Institute during 2003, Best Citizens of India award by International Publishing House, New Delhi during 2001and received Andhra Pradesh Scientist Award for 2006 in the field of New and Emerging Sciences. |
