| Objective of the labs |
1) |
Water Resources Simulation and Modelling Lab |
To model the watershed/ river basin through surface modeling software (SMS) |
To develop the relationship between rainfall and runoff to watershed/ river basin. |
To impart training on groundwater modeling to the students. |
2) |
Photo Hydrology Lab |
To interpret various satellite images both visually and digitally and to prepare various thematic maps of the watershed and river basins. |
To extract information from thematic maps, and to put it into GIS applications and resulting to prepare an action plan for a particular watershed / river basin. |
3) |
Geophysical and Surveying Lab |
To delineate aquifer geometry, aquifer parameters and groundwater potential zones. |
To conduct survey for delineation of fresh water zones and brackish waterzones. |
4) |
Hydro Metrological Station |
To measure all the hydrometrological parameters such as rainfall, runoff, temperature, evaporation, sunshine hours, etc. |
To collect site specific Data such as stream gauging and river water for sediment analysis. |
5) |
Water Quality Lab |
To estimate various cations and anions in the groundwater and surface water. |
To determine water quality and pollution parameters from surface water and groundwater |
6) |
Isotope Hydrology Lab |
To estimate groundwater recharge through reservoirs and rainfall by measuring natural and artificial isotopes present in the groundwater and surface water. |
